I provide a non-judgemental space where young people can explore their emotions and express them safely. My practice is rooted in play, art and creativity - all wonderful metaphors through which children can naturally express their inner world. I offer adolescents a wide variety of approaches such as talk therapy, art therapy, imagery and sandtray therapy. By processing their past and present, children can build resilience and hope for a happier future.
The positive relationship I build between myself and my clients is at the very heart of my work - it’s so important that you and your child feel totally comfortable with your therapist. I really look forward to hearing how I can support you.
Play is a child’s most natural form of expression. Play therapy is a wonderful therapeutic approach in which children can safely explore current or past issues with the support of the therapist, developing resilience for the future. It is a child centred approach where the therapist is led by the child in their interests and choices. Specific interventions can be introduced by the therapist to meet individual needs or desired outcomes.
We offer a wide range of approaches effective in supporting adolescents in exploring these changes and their past or current situations. We take the young person’s lead; some young people prefer to use the space to simply talk and some prefer to make use of approaches such as Sandtray Therapy, Art based Therapy, Clay Therapy, Collage and Transactional Analysis.
How it works and what you can expect
The process begins with a free telephone call to discuss your child's need. An assessment session (this is charged at half price) is then booked to share information about the child or young person. This is either with the parents / guardians alone or with the child / young person present. A contract can then be established for a block of sessions (please note, the minimum number of sessions is 6). Sessions are 45 / 50 minutes (dependent on age) and take place weekly at the same time in the therapy room. Towards the end of a block, a review will take place to decide whether another block is needed or whether therapy will begin to draw to an ending.
